August 12, 2017

IMPORTANT - Reservations are due by July 12th.

Stop 1
AMREC is a model railroad club located in Coshocton, Ohio, on the grounds of the Coshocton Fairgrounds. The layout is a freelanced version of the Toledo, Walhonding Valley & Ohio Railroad, simulating the scenery and industries typical of South Central Ohio, as well as the varying railroad interests of its members. The layout features include:

- Over 6 scales miles of mainline, with a separate smaller mainline
- Multiple DC cabs permitting 5 trains operating at once
- A scenicked logging branch, with sawmill, logging camp and switchbacks
- A scale representation of the town of Quincy, Ohio and the surrounding area
- Two cabooses on display which actually operated through the Coshocton area

The centerpiece of the AMREC display is the fully functional interlocking unit, from the NYC-DT&I diamond in Quincy, Ohio. Painstakingly restored, the interlocking unit is integrated with the layout itself.

Stop 2
After spending a couple of hours at the AMREC we will head to the Warehouse Steak n’ Stein Restaurant in Roscoe Village for a buffet lunch.

Stop 3
Just outside of Coshocton, Ohio sits a remarkable 7 1/2” gauge live steam railroad.
The Mill Creek Central has over 25 scale miles of track, there are two tunnels, a bridge over a large creek and a very large trestle, not to mention two towns, a turntable and a locomotive repair shop.  The railroad runs on signal indication lighting and to say it is spectacular is an understatement.

We will depart from Lancaster at 8:30 a.m. We plan on departing the Millcreek Central at 6:00 p.m. with arrival in Lancaster at 7:30 p.m. Cost will be $70 per person. This includes round-trip bus fare, admission to AMREC and the Buckeye convention, and the buffet lunch. Tickets are limited to the first 50 seats sold. Children 10 and older are welcome.
