The Smoke Stack Hobby Shop is proud to present for sale the lifetime train collection of the late Darrel Brehm of Pratt, Kansas.
The estate of Mr. Brehm has selected The Smoke Stack Hobby Shop as the sole distributor of this amazing collection. Without doubt this is the largest collection we have ever curated and is certainly one of the largest intact private collections available today.
Many of the items are either of premium brand quality or of a hard-to-find nature and you will find them all affordably priced. The goal is to find homes for these items with hobbyists who appreciate the quality as well as the time and effort involved by Mr. Brehm in amassing this collection.
The collection consists of model trains in various scales ranging from HO, HOn3, On30, and G. There are structures, vehicles and scenery. The collection contains a fine assortment of building tools, display cases, and other accessories.
The structures come in built and kit form. The built structures are of impressive quality, In fact, they are the finest hand-built structures we have ever seen. The kits are a combination of laser-cut wood and plastic kits. Many are long out of production items that are very difficult to obtain.
The locomotives are of all types (steam and diesel) and consist of DC and DCC. Many are new in the box and are from premium brands such as Broadway Limited, Spectrum, Blackstone, Genesis and Proto in addition to the more conventional brands like Athearn, Bachmann, Stewart, InterMountain and more. To top it off, there is a nice selection of brass locomotives from manufacturers like Ajin, Pacific Fast Mail, and others.
The rolling stock is available ready-to-run and in kit form. We have thousands of pieces in a variety of types and road names. As with the locomotives, many of the rolling stock pieces are long out of production and hard to find.
If you have enough locomotives and rolling stock in your inventory (but really - who does?) there is a huge selection of scenery items and materials to make your layout come to life. Trees, rocks, rock molds, lichen, ground cover and more are available.
There is a large selection of railroad themed books. Many are long out of print and difficult to find. Some have even been signed buy the authors. We also have an assortment of memorabilia from lanterns to photographs, to plates and framed railroad items
The above trains and memorabilia are currently for sale at our River Valley Mall location. The Mall store is open Tuesday - Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday Noon - 5 p.m. Closed Monday.
